ROM. Der CDU-Europaabgeordnete Dennis Radtke MdEP ist an diesem Wochenende auf dem XIII. Kongress der Europäischen Union Christlich-Demokratischer Arbeitnehmer (EUCDA) in Rom zum neuen Präsidenten gewählt. Der stellvertretende Bundesvorsitzende des CDU-Arbeitnehmerflügels CDA folgt in diesem Amt dem ehemaligen Europaabgeordneten Elmar Brok.

Seit 2017 gehört der 43-jährige Bochumer CDU-Politiker dem Europäischen Parlament an. Dort ist er seit 2019 Koordinator seiner EVP-Fraktion im Ausschuss für Beschäftigung und soziale Angelegenheit (EMPL). Vor seiner Abgeordnetentätigkeit war Radtke viele Jahre als Gewerkschaftssekretär bei der Industriegewerkschaft Bergbau, Chemie, Energie (IG BCE) tätig.
Die Europäische Union Christlich-Demokratischer Arbeitnehmer ist die Arbeitnehmerorganisation der Europäischen Volkspartei (EVP), der europäischen Parteienfamilie, der auch CDU und CSU in Deutschland angehören. Europäische Spitzenpolitiker wie der frühere Bundesminister für Arbeit und Soziales, Hans Katzer, und der spätere EU-Kommissionspräsident Jean-Claude Jucker, bekleideten vor Radtke das Amt des Präsidenten in der EUCDA, der Arbeitnehmerorganisation der Europäischen Volkspartei (EVP), der auch CDU und CSU angehören.
Dennis Radtke erklärte nach seiner Wahl: „Als Sozialpolitiker ist es eines meiner Hauptanliegen, die Basiselemente unserer bewährten Sozialen Marktwirtschaft, die auch Ordnungsprinzip der Europäischen Union ist, zu erhalten und zu stärken. Sozialpartnerschaft, sozialer Dialog und Tarifbindung sind hier die Schlüsselworte für eine Politik in Europa, die Arbeitnehmer schützt und sozialen Fortschritt sichert. Dafür setze ich mich auch in Zukunft ein!“

European Union of Christian Democratic Workers (EUCDW)
Dennis Radtke elected President
ROME. The CDU MEP Dennis Radtke MEP was elected as the new President of the European Union of Christian Democratic Workers (EUCDW) at the XIII Congress in Rome this weekend. The Deputy Federal Chair of the CDU workers' wing CDA succeeds former MEP Elmar Brok in this office.
The 43-year-old CDU politician from Bochum has been a member of the European Parliament since 2017. There, he has been coordinator of his EPP group in the Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL) since 2019. Before becoming an MEP, Radtke worked for many years as a trade union secretary at the Mining, Chemical and Energy Industrial Union (IG BCE).
The EUCDW is the workers' organisation of the European People's Party (EPP), the European party family to which the CDU and CSU in Germany also belong. Top European politicians such as the former Federal Minister for Labour and Social Affairs, Hans Katzer, and the later EU Commission President Jean-Claude Jucker, held the office of President in the EUCDW before Radtke.
Dennis Radtke commented after his election: "As a social politician, one of my main concerns is to preserve and strengthen the basic elements of our proven social market economy, which is also the organising principle of the European Union. Social partnership, social dialogue and collective bargaining are the key words here for a policy in Europe that protects workers and ensures social progress. This is what I will continue to stand up for in the future!"
